Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands is an integrated resort development comprising hotels, casinos and a theme park in Pahang, perched on the peak of Gunung Ulu Kali at 1,800 meters high. Nestled near the border of Selangor within an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur (about 35km), Genting Resort presents a popular weekend getaway from the city heat, conveniently connected by the Karak Highway and major trunk roads, along with a cable car service from the satellite town of Gohtong Jaya. On a clear day, the peak overlooks lush valleys of rainforest stretching towards KL, a breathtaking view for visitors as they enjoy the cooling weather and serene mountain environment.
Since 1971, Genting Highlands has remained the only legal gambling outfit in Malaysia, riddled at some sections with kitschy architecture, bright lights and squawking tourists. While the casinos are central to Genting Highlands, the theme park provides fun rides and activities for adults and children alike, while the First World Plaza is a colorful shopping center with a collection of family restaurants and trendy outlets. Meanwhile, more tourist attractions lie within the vicinity of Gohtong Jaya, such as the Strawberry Farm and Chin Swee Temple. Genting Resort offers five major hotels; First World Hotel, the largest hotel in Asia with over 6,000 budget rooms; Theme Park Hotel caters for family accommodation with easy access to the Outdoor Theme Park; Resort Hotel is a midrange choice that bridges luxury and simplicity; Maxims Genting is a five star resort with opulent suites; and the Highlands Hotel is restricted to Genting WorldCard members and casino guests.

Located just north of the equator, Malaysia borders Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei, and has maritime boundaries with Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines. Malaysia's population is 29.69 million in 2013. Malaysia is a bubbling, bustling melting pot of races and religions where Malays, Indians, Chinese and many other ethnic groups live together in peace and harmony. Multiculturalism has not only made Malaysia a gastronomical paradise, it has also made Malaysia home to hundreds of colorful festivals. Malaysians love celebrating and socializing; the people are warm and friendly.
One of Malaysia's key attractions is its extreme contrasts. Towering skyscrapers look down upon wooden houses built on stilts, and five-star hotels sit several meters away from ancient reefs. Cool hideaways are found in the highlands that roll down to warm, sandy beaches and rich, humid mangroves.

]]>University Malaya, or UM, Malaysia's oldest university, is situated on a 750 acre (309 hectare) campus in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
It was established in April 1949 in Singapore with the merger of the King Edward VII College of Medicine (founded in 1905) and Raffles College (founded in 1928).
The University of Malaya derives its name from the term 'Malaya' as the country was then known. The Carr-Saunders Commission, which recommended the setting up of the university, noted in its Report in 1948: "The University of Malaya would provide for the first time a common center where varieties of race, religion and economic interest could mingle in joint endeavor ... For a University of Malaya must inevitably realize that it is a university for Malaya."
The growth of the University was very rapid during the first decade of its establishment and this resulted in the setting up of two autonomous Divisions in 1959, one located in Singapore and the other in Kuala Lumpur. In 1960, the government of the two territories indicated their desire to change the status of the Divisions into that of a national university. Legislation was passed in 1961 and the University of Malaya was established on 1st January 1962.
Currently, His Royal Highness The Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan is the Chancellor of the University of Malaya.
Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Amin Bin Jalaludin was appointed as the tenth Vice-Chancellor of University of Malaya on 8th November 2013.
