Prof. Banker Visit of the Conference Venue
Professor Rajiv Banker, the president of the International DEA Society, recently visited the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur on the 7th and 8th of November 2013, to review conference arrangements and obtain a first hand impression of the meeting facilities, the campus, the hotels and the city of Kuala Lumpur itself.
He was particularly impressed by the hotel arrangements. He observed, "Hotels in different price brackets have been contracted for the conference. All these hotels are fairly close to the campus, an easy taxi ride away even if you miss the scheduled conference bus. All these hotels are very comfortable and very reasonably priced for a major metropolitan location."
The high standard of hotel rooms, meals and general hotel facilities at the conference hotels are impressive. Delegates choosing to stay at the 5 star Garden's hotel's premier rooms will experience the 'wow' factor with excellent service, food, facilities, ambiance and views of Kuala Lumpur skyline. While the 5 star premier rooms are priced attractively at about USD 122, the prices of the conference 4 star and 3 star hotels make them even more easily affordable alternatives. The rooms are clean and comfortable with views of KL. All the hotels are conveniently located within Asia's largest shopping mall - Mid Valley Mega Mall and the Gardens Mall, which is an excellent shopping haven.
The conference venue itself is less than an hour's drive from the KLIA airport and is situated just 10 km southwest of Kuala Lumpur city center. Professor Banker said, "The University of Malaya has a very nice campus and a lot of history. Its Museum of Asiatic Arts is worth a visit for the aficionados." Delegates will enjoy the modern clean conference facilities on campus.
The conference organizers have arranged a tour of the city of Kuala Lumpur which includes attractive visits to the Malaysian National Monument, Butterfly Park, National Mosque, Sultan Abdul Samad building, Merdeka Square and PETRONAS Twin Towers. Delegates can further explore the city's booming culinary scene after the tour. Professor Banker remarked, "I enjoyed dining al fresco in downtown KL. The blend of different cultures makes for a most delicious choice of dining in Malaysia."
